to have a blogiversary (and a giveaway)

last April,
I began this blog.
When I first started this blog I titled it To Train Up a Child with Love,
in outcry to what seemed to me an epidemic of a whole lot of child training
on the internet but not a whole lot of love,
until I found communities of beautiful people shining with His Love and
began to breathe a little easier knowing not everyone who called on the name of the Lord
was also calling for no mercy with their children
(The LORD is merciful and gracious,
Slow to anger, and abounding in mercy).

and that they weren't all desperately set on first time obedience
(Oh when Lord have I ever obeyed the first time?)
and suddenly this blog had a new purpose,
it wasn't about just training up children with love,
it was about doing everything with love.
That if I did anything, thought anything,
said anything,
it would be nothing if I did it without love,
that God is Love and keeping my focus love,
would be to keep my focus God,
to do, think and say all in the name of Love,
is to do, think and say all in the name of God.

And so the name changed from to train up a child with love,
and became simply
To Love,
and the thought behind each post's title is kind of like that game
90210 introduced like 18 years ago,
you know when you have a fortune cookie you put the phrase
"in bed"
at the end of your fortune,
and it's creepy but still, you can't really help it when you have one.
Well with each of my post's titles you are supposed to add the phrase
"with love" at the end,
so let's take a look at some...

to be a rebel (with love)
to delight in the after party (with love)
to let my arms pop up (with love)
to be cancer (with love)

get it?
I just need to do, think and speak with love,
or else I fail,
which I do,
all too often.

1 If I speak in the tongues[a] of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast,[b] but do not have love, I gain nothing.

So for my blogiversary, I would love to get to know my readers more.
I am hosting a giveaway, but I'm not quite sure what I am giving away.
It will be personal to the winner, something I choose for them.
To enter, leave a comment telling me three things about yourself that will
help me know you better and
(hopefully) help me pick a gift for you if you win.
Thank you for reading, and journeying with me as I seek to
focus on Love (God).
*** Giveaway ends Friday***

  1. Three things about me:
I am 56 years old, a grandma of six beautiful grandchildren and have been married 37 years to my high school sweet heart.
(I also have a Christian blog I write in regularly)

  2. i am trying to think of 3 things you wouldn't know necessarily from my blog:
i love love love to read.
i love to knit, especially baby garments.
and completely unrelevant to the above, i wish i prayed more.

i love the "why" of your blog/change and of course i love how you love, seek to love others in word and action.

  3. You are going to be SO sorry you asked...

    1. The first time I got my name in the newspaper was when I was 20 months old and fell down the steps from my porch into a charcoal grill.
    2. When I was in high school, my best friend and student council president volunteered me to hold a python during an assembly about reptiles.
    3. I have never seen the Lord of the Rings movies because I have never read the Lord of the Rings books. I've never read the books because I tried reading The Hobbit during high school when I was coming down with the flu, and the whole idea of hobbits and Middle Earth nauseates me.

Happy Blogiversary, friend! So happy to have met you here in virtual reality!

  4. What a great game to end..... with love, this reminds me of when we were told in Sunday school to replace the word love with our name in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7. Thankfully with his grace it is his love that make this possible.

Lets see three things about me. I like to read, I like to write, and I like to talk. ;-)

  5. 1. My dad taught me to read when I was four. Liking being read to, I refused to read on my own until I was seven. The very first book I read was a chapter book(Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing by Judy Blume). My parents were shocked and relieved.

    2. I am rather clumsy. On one rather memorable shift at a cafe, I knocked over the canister full of espresso beans. They went everywhere! While changing after my shift, I discovered coffee beans in my bra! It's been more than ten years and my mother still laughs about that.

    3. Cheesecake, pizza, apple pie and bacon are all things I like to eat for breakfast.

Happy Blogiversary! I enjoy your poems/stories quite a bit. :)

  6. I am so glad that you decided to start a blog. Your blog has spoken time and time again to me. I treasure your words.

    Three things about me:

    1. Im in love with pens, when I find one I like I buy in bulk :)

    2. Someday I hope to run a marathon.

    3. I like wine and chocolate. Its my prefered dessert. Red and Dark!

  7. "With love." With grace. With eyes on Jesus...

You are simply a Gospel-centered woman, pivoting on His Grace... and can I just say? You are all Jesus -beautiful...

*Thank you* for this space...For being you and simply shining His light.

    With *love*,
